Trip trading. A little rant...

So seriously what good is trip trading if you can't do it? Twice in the last month a trip has popped up in open time the day before from 7-11. Seniority trip trading isn't an option because at 11 it is open to reserves for aggressive pickup. One of those I wanted to trade into would have been working over a weekend. Scheduler said he couldn't trade/drop my trip that didn't start over the weekend so I could pickup one that did. Makes no sense to me. I thought they needed more reserves over weekend.

They need to run that seniority trip trading one last time at 10:59 and open it up to reserves at 11. Guess that would be too easy.

Basically anything that drops from 7-11 the day prior is useless unless your the first to call and want to do a day for day trip swap and the have reserves at your show time. Have been denied before due to no reserves available at me show which was 1 hour before the trip I was trying to get.

Oh well

Your rant is right on the money. My situation is similar. Not sure if it is true or not but rumor has it that a trip trade is faster if one uses CCS over etriptrader. Can anyone confirm this

Where and what is etriptrader

Its the old name for Crew Companion.

Its a trip trading system that is 10X better than the currently supplied company one, so much so, that the Company just agreed to buy every United pilot a subscription to Crew Companion since their own tech is failing so hard to deal with 12,000+ pilots.

Yet the Marvins and other sycophants will bend over backwards to help out whenever possible.

Can someone confirm:
From the ccs realtime trip trade, there s no option to do a trade, so the only way to trade inside 11am the day prior is to call scheduling??

Is it possible to do a realtime trade inside 11am the day prior with etriptrader?

What is the procedure to have the company pay for this software? Has it been published yet?

20-P-4-d The trip-trade system shall process at least every four (4) hours except that the parties understand that some Categories may take longer than four hours to process.

20-P-4-e At 1100, all Trips that report on the next day shall become available for instantaneous trading.

20-P-4-f Instantaneous trades that include a Trip drop on the current or subsequent calendar day shall be subject toCompany concurrence.

The real time opens at 1100. Prior to that it's seniority based every 4 hours starting at 3,7,11,3,7 AM day prior is last run. Even though via contract they could run it every hour if they wanted.

From 7AM-11AM the day prior it's if whoever or whomever you talk with feels like it. They don't have to so its a crapshoot.

11AM on.. it's open to reserves and instantaneous trip trading will be available/unlocked.

Etriptrader still won't be able to instantaneous trade before 11 as that is supposed to be seniority based till 11

I have put trades in inside of 11am (ie 1130) and I get some kind of warning window from Crew Companion saying: You are inside the trade window, do you want to continue?" I always say yes but either the trip is gone when crew companion puts it thru and one time it said "Failed due to pilot age" But in answer to your question, yes crew companion will put a trip thru and so will CCS (CCS Maybe)

Your rant is exactly correct. And I should know, because I bid reserve for this specific reason rather than be a junior line holder. The system is flawed and I'll tell you why.

They allow us reserves to aggressively grab trips and block them from lineholders and this is how we on reserve can cherry pick the open pairings and get the good stuff.

There is no way on this green earth that I should be getting the Hong Kong trips (31:35 hour 4 day), but I do and I should be getting all of the London (20:00 hour 4 days) in EWR.

How do we solve this or why should we? I'll tell you why, because it's not fair to the lineholders or senior pilots who can't trade their garbage trips for a better one while a reservist like myself comes along and nails the premium pairings. Someday I will be a solid lineholder and I won't like it when the junior reserves get the good trips, so let's fix it now and spread the love where it should be. Some of you senior folks have put up with more years of crap than I have been on property, so rightfully, you should get the good trips.

How do we solve it? Talk to the union and see if they can't set up another trip trade run that runs at 10:30am local for the lineholders. That way you get one last shot at a trade before we reservists aggressively grab them at 11:00am local.

Just trying to keep it real and be fair.

This system seems to be a consolidation of the worst of both Legacy systems. In the previous CAL system, reserves could not do an aggressive pick up until after 1300 the day before. That gave lineholders 2 hours to get the good stuff.
