Lighten up Francis... Pretty sure he's surprised, as am I, at just how junior the left seat is going there.

Why are you surprised, there are already more junior Capts on the property.

But thanks for the advice on what to comment on.

Not on the west coast, and not since the combined list has been bidding. I was surprised too... and thrilled for the FO's who have been waiting FOREVER for a chance to upgrade again. Not sure why that's a bad thing

This is the FIRST time that a captain vacancy bid has gone down to this level since the ISL. I am a 1997 hire and a surplussed captain. So what's your point exactly?

There are more junior captains on the property but as mentioned above none have bid onto it since the ISL at this level. But that should be self explanatory.

There were lots of pilots upgrading to Captain pre-ISL.

Of course you are correct. Let me clarify, there were no LUAL pilots in the seniority range we are discussing here, those with only 17 to 18 years seniority on property, who have been able to hold a captain vacancy bid post ISL.

There have been plenty of pilots from both groups who have taken captain bids post ISL who are more senior obviously.

There were lots of pilots on both sides who were getting captain bids pre ISL. There were a double poop load of super Jr guys who got captain bids on the CAL side very near but just prior to the ISL. Those pilots are now going to allow a double poop load of 17 and 18 year UAL pilots (most of whom have held captain and were displaced themselves pre ISL) to slip into displacement captain bids.

All done in accordance with the agreement between the parties and affirmed as legitimate by the DRC process.
