Live in base.....without a doubt. The way things are moving reserve will not last long.

Welcome back to the suck!

For a line-holder, commuting is simple: 2 flights, on or off-line, that arrive 1 hour prior to push...conversation over. It's in the contract - if you don't make option #1, call scheduling and tell them...if option #2 is gonna crump, call skeds and they'll positive space you, or remove you from the trip...no questions asked. Ops tested no fewer than 4 times.

I have ZERO stress as a commuter.

Cheers,
Horhay

Any chance you could let us know what it says for those who will be lucky enough to commute on reserve? Thank you

I commute to reserve. Not the end of the world, but looking forward to getting off of it. Same commuter rules apply, but normally when I call (which is not common) they'll just tell me to let them know when I get there. Never been an issue so far.

Concur with the Dude. Commuting to reserve has same protection. If a base has minimal reserve coverage, they might Pos Space you if you miss your 1st of 2 flights, esp if they know they will need you(weather moving in). Otherwise they are pretty chill about it. My experience anyway as EWR 73.

Or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

Will they positive-space you if the only service is UAX?

Harrier Dude 12-13-2014 07:17 PM

Yes. If need be.

Is that treated as a personal drop? Can't imagine they'd have a whole lot of reservations about dropping you below guarantee... How does the hour prior to push work if you have a global trip?
