Jan 27th class

Buddy interviewed on the October 29th, anyone else around that time still waiting for a class date? Hopefully calls will go out tomorrow or the day after.

No calls today either. I wonder if this class was filled by returning furloughs. Is there a way to tell?

northshore973 01-01-2015 12:09 PM

Nothing new from my buddy.

CP uplate showed 5 EWR 737 spots and 6 IAH 320 Spots for this class.

northshore973 01-06-2015 11:56 AM

20 spots in this class, some 756.

steelers1 01-07-2015 09:33 AM

I interviewed on November 6th. No phone call just yet either.

captain822 01-09-2015 07:49 PM

Anyone else going to be in this class? I will, interviewed Nov 5th. Class drop: (5) 737 SFO, (5) A320 IAH, (5) 756 EWR, (5) 756 IAD.

killdeer 01-10-2015 03:45 AM

I will be there. 2000 Hire and two time furlough (11 years total on the street)

Noreast 01-10-2015 05:06 AM

I'm in, looking forward to it interviewed Oct 30.

Are you in touch with the other furlough returnees? Any idea what aircraft/base you or they might bid on?

killdeer 01-10-2015 08:38 AM

I am not sure of any others. I will be bidding for ORD

Aren't SFO, IAD, EWR, and IAH the only choices for the classes? Do the returning furloughees pick with the new hires?

I think he was trying to get an idea what bases the returning pilots would pick out of SFO, IAD, EWR, and IAH.

DGFlyer03 01-10-2015 11:05 AM

I'm wondering if DCA or EWR will go junior. Would love the 756. Thoughts?

Those are the only choices for the Jan 27th class. Not sure how it works for returning furloughees. I don't think ORD is an option. Yes I'm trying to figure out what will go senior.

killdeer 01-11-2015 05:28 AM

I returned last year so already have a bid and thus won't effect others in class. I am just finally making it to a class now and my aircraft training is already in my schedule. I believe all class bids are seniority based so furlough returns would be above new hires.

Ok that makes sense. I was told 17 new hires, 4 returnees, but only 20 openings, so it makes sense that you won't be bidding. I'm curious if 737 SFO might go senior. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

nonrev4funn 01-12-2015 05:16 AM

I am also a return furloughee coming back Jan 27.... I will be bidding for SFO. I heard there was another furloughee type also wanting SFO, but don't know what class he took... (Last I heard, they had 5 737's to SFO in the Jan 20th class also)

T333 01-12-2015 08:46 AM

Non-Rev:

could have been me. EWR 737 (Dec 9th class). waiting for a vacancy bid to SFO.

Cheers,

T

PS welcome back

nonrev4funn 01-12-2015 11:16 AM

T333- Thanks...
just never know when they'll have vacancies & when they'll offer dom/a/c to new hires/returnees. The huge vacancy bid was last October... too bad you missed that chance for SFO. Hope it will happen soon for you.

SurfnFlyer 01-12-2015 12:20 PM

Returning pilots bid separately from new hires. When my class began, the returnees already knew their assignments. The equipment drop quoted when you are called for a class date is for new hires only.

Ok thanks, good to know, hoping to get 737 SFO.

Even if you don't get it right out of training, it shouldn't be long. I'd like that too but am seat-locked.

A320 IAH would be ok too, just trying to get back to LAX. I hear 737 would be the way to go since it's the growing fleet.

I could be wrong, but as I understand it, Returnees already have their a/c & dom, IF they are Military, Long Term Leave of Abs, Volunteer Furloughee, etc... but if they were an Involuntary Furloughee, they bid with the new hires.

(actually I think Volunteer Furloughees also bid w/new hires... I'll have to look that one up :)

ugleeual 01-12-2015 03:28 PM

True dat... Only ML get acft outside new hire bids in class.

LOAs come back to what seat they were in. (i.e. non-mil personal leaves of absence) formerly called LOA, now called COLA.

Even people gone 5+ years.

Nooner 01-14-2015 12:53 PM

I'll see you guys there on the 27th. EWR would be the easiest for me.

DashTrash 01-14-2015 01:04 PM

It shouldn't be long at all for anyone that wants SFO in either the Bus or Guppy. They both had unfilled vacancies in the last vacancy bid.

DGFlyer03 01-14-2015 04:11 PM

EWR would be great for me as well!

ugleeual 01-14-2015 05:41 PM

Right...my bad. Furlough recall bypass (everyone not on a LOA and want to stay away) go thru new hire bid process with the rest... All other LOAs are GtG.

northshore973 01-14-2015 06:50 PM

New hires: what are your ages?

I've 2 friends who got into that class. Both in their 40s and both want 737 SFO. But who knows. It could all change before you get there. Might open up more west slots, or more east coast slots. You won't really know until the practice bid on day 1.

DGFlyer03 01-15-2015 02:22 PM

29 looking for EWR too!

northshore973 01-15-2015 02:39 PM

any more people?

Would be great if we all get a good idea where everyone should stand come class time. PM me if you want to remain anonymous.

Nooner 01-15-2015 04:01 PM

To sum up...
looks like the rumors have the drop with a smattering of 737, Airbus, and 756 at a cross-section of bases... so it should have something for everyone. Ultimately though, no use worrying about it too much, since we will find out what the options are when we get there.

This is everyone who seems like they are in the class:

DGFlyer03: 29, EWR
Nooner: 38, EWR
Friend of Flip69#1: 40+, 737 SFO
Friend of Flip69#2: 40+, 737 SFO
Captain822: 37, 737 SFO or 320 IAH
Killdeer: ORD
Nonrev4funn: SFO
Pilot64Golfer?
Noreast: ?, unknown, but assuming EWR based on handle.

that being said, that's only about half the class. I'm just stoked to be there. Happy to get something with wings.

If it helps settle people's minds, I asked where i sat in the stack when I talked to the pilot hiring office about my class date and Doris said, "squarely in the middle," make that of it what you will.

I'm just trying to make this next week go by as quickly as possible. :)
DGFlyer03, you might be worried about your age with this drop, but I guarantee you, every guy in our class would trade places with you in a second, you'll have 9 years on me when you retire. The #1 most senior guy just turned 60 last July... he is going to sit on the throne for another 4.5 years... you'll come a lot closer to that than I ever will. Also, I heard EWR goes Jr, so you may get your cake and eat it too.

see you guys in 11 days!

Noreast 01-15-2015 05:19 PM

Looking forward to meeting you guys. 44 EWR

killdeer 01-15-2015 06:26 PM

I am 45 and ORD 737

Qwerty 01-15-2015 06:41 PM

48. Hoping for IAH 320
Look fwd to meeting all of you. Sorry in advance for all the dumb 121 questions I'll be asking
