You are correct.....how many kills did you say you had again? :)

BL - commuting blows...no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

I totally agree.....and for me it's usually dragging myself to the "sleep room" and sitting in a recliner until the first flight in the am. It sux. A few weeks ago we were parking right next to the my last flight home. I could see the airplane sitting at the gate. We waited 20 mins for the ramp crew to park us. I had them call the gate for me, pulled out every trick in the book. I ran up to the gate as they were pulling the Jetway (after sitting out there for the 20 mins ). I got home 13 hours after I would have if I had made the flight and was miserable all day due to the lack of sleep. What did I take from this? Our house is going on the market in a few weeks. I wouldn't do this for any length of this career for any amount of money. No way it's worth it.

Can't resist telling my worst commute to ORD story: Over six hours hanging around trying to get a seat to ORD. Finally end up on Eagle (a seat in back), and launch for ORD just after dark. Horrible ride the entire way, followed by extensive holding for ORD. On the approach, I happen to be looking out the window and see us get hit by lighting, as screams erupt in the cabin. A couple of minutes later, we go around do to microburst alerts. With no more gas to play with, we head to GRR. The weather in GRR turns out to be bad too, and we miss the approach. At this point, I'm pretty curious as to how much gas this RJ has left as we come around for a second try. We land in GRR on the second try after 11 PM and the flight is of course cancelled from there. A lady comes up to me and says she will put a rental car on her company credit card if I drive it to Chicago. In desperation, I agree and also take along a Southwest and Mesa pilot. The drive to ORD in the middle of the night was challenging enough with heavy rain and areas of pea soup thick fog. We dropped the SWA guy off at his MDW crash pad and arrived at ORD at 3 AM.

I should have just sold shower curtain rings for a living.

Amazing.

This is Czechoslovakian Ivory.

These is your genuine Walter Cronkite moon ring. They're filled with helium so they're very light.

Only lived where I was based once for a year of my life at the beginning of my career, 13 years ago. It was glorious, 5 minutes up the hill. Couldn't figure out why the senior guys where still there, now I know. Commuting sux, will never compare to living in base. Thought of NetJets many times...week on week off, confirmed ticket, no stress, but...

I think his last tally was 3 watches (don't worry, they were cheap Casios with BIGAZZ faces). ... but he recently shot down 2 fitbits, so just call him 'Ace of the Base'. :D

Thats one problem. The sleep rooms are not commuter crash pads. I commute and if I miss my last flight I am not going to park it in the crew room. You do what you want but I consider that part of the "cheap ***" pilot mentality that we get pigeonholed with.

You make a very good living (just not Delta good) and you can afford a hotel if you commute or you can move and not commute. Your choice...

No fitbits yet. I prefer hello kitty ones.
