No such thing as an easy commute. Do yourself a favor and try and live close enough to drive.

What he said.

Especially true if your home 'drome is only served by the mighty RJ fleet. Our loads are astonishing.

Now that I'm onboard the 737 out of D.C. we are considering moving to ATL vs. Northern VA based on the cost of living (and to stay in the Southeast). So far, on my 2 leg commute, the 2nd leg from ATL to BWI/IAD/DCA has been very doable for the first month?

Any updates on the commute from others who've been doing it for awhile?

I don't do that commute but mid September to late October is usually a yearly low point in traffic. I don't think you'd necessarily want to extrapolate that to holiday periods or the summertime.

I did the ATL-IAD/DCA commute for years when I was at the regionals. You're right, generally speaking, the off season isn't too bad. Wait until this summer though. It is terrible!

I heard the EWR commute was really bad until United put mainline planes on the route. I've been doing it for 6 months now and between United and Delta I haven't had too much trouble. You can also list for the Jumpseat on mainline. IAD is still an rj route on United. That being said, they can both really suck sometimes. Have you looked into living in the Shannendoah valley? I've heard of other United guys living out in the Winchester area. Cost of living is still pretty reasonable I think.

Thanks for the good feedback). Some good points taken. I will definitely stick with moving to the D.C. area for now and will look into the Shannendoah valley and Winchester areas.

Anyone here who lives in Winchester? I'm possibly moving the family there soon. How do you like it?

I'm currently sitting in CLT for 4 hours on a forced two leg commute from IAD-ATL due to full flights on us and DL. Mondays always suck.

That stinks, especially on such a short commute. The commute alone is the only reason I haven't bid it instead of EWR. Hope it gets better.
