With this coming displacement I don't think IAH is a reasonable expectation for a new hire. It's not DEN but it's gonna get worse really soon. There will be Bus FOs who get bumped out by more senior 73 FOs.
IMO, I wonder if any Houston Airbus first officers will get a (secondary) pump. With only a total of 45 to 50 FO's getting displaced, over three rounds, I expect the company will stop sending the eight or so new hires a month there and just absorb the additional first officers. The next large narrowbody bid with West Coast Airbus opportunities will likely draw at least 15 first officers out of Houston anyway. As a junior West Coast commuter into Houston, I wouldn't mind positive space commuting until I can get based at home, I just don't see the company wanting to shell out for a situation that will right itself pretty quickly. Obviously, the captain numbers are quite different |

Glenny, since we're both 45, what's your last four of your SS# start with? I'm 7XXX. Not sure they use birth month, but I'll be 46 late July. Just curious to see who'll get first pick of iron.

I turned 45 in February so you're the grand old man so far. Although I know we have a least one furlough returnee. I live in TUS and mainly looking for fastest way to one leg commute. I do have the option of commuting from PHX as well but not preferred.

Well, did my TAP brief with military yesterday. Strange to do it in civilian clothes. Looks like I have three more working days to wrap things up there.
Can't wait to learn what the next few years will be like. Still wish we had a better idea on class dates. You guys said 1st day mock aircraft select. 2nd day we actually pick what we want. And somewhere in the second week we'll get our SIMs scheduled. I had heard several posts about a wait time between indoc and aircraft classes (SIMs). I also heard class size is dropping a bit for the summer, from 26 to 20ish? Wonder what that will mean for classes? |

That's changed, mock bid and live bid are now on day 1.

Just finished basic indoc (BI). I can confirm that mock and real bids are now day 1. Found out bases when we showed up then did a mock bid. The actual bid was in the afternoon. as far as time between BI and aircraft training my class had anywhere from 3 days to 20+ days in between.

IAH would be the easiest commute right now (live in OKC), but it sounds like that probably won't happen out of training. I'll probably try for 73 or 320 to have some flexibility when I can move west. My long term goal is to get to LAX so I can move back to the west coast.
Most junior man as of 6/14/15 737 nyc fo 12214 737 lax fo 6/4/15 Junior man Seniority 11898 320 lax fo 11746 737 SFO fo 12059 320 SFO fo 11872 The 737 & 320 LAX and SFO bases are pretty junior. Shouldn't take long to get in. Probably less than a year the way things are going. It all depends on the frequency of vacancy bids. Congrats and welcome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Jeans and polo shirts are more than sufficient for daily training during BI and sims... Majority did wear slacks and long sleeve for the final day... BI and sim check.

320 - about a week 756 - week to two weeks |
I'm curious about how trips are put together. For example. if you're DCA-based on a three-day trip you're basically shuttling back and forth between out-bases and DCA and not hitting other hubs with nothing in between right? Also during bidding, besides days on/off do you get to bid where the overnight or is it luck of the draw?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sure, you can request specific overnights in PBS and weigh them how you see fit...the luck of the draw comes in with your seniority. |

Lets say you are on the A320 in DC...expect to go anywhere in North America and not do DC turns. Leave base for three days and then come back (in general).

Soooooo... we're supposed to received more info when? This week coming up?
|
Just got the email with the information for the class. In the welcome letter it states to contact them for a positive-space round trip ticket with a return leg after 3:30 on the 5th day of training of the first week.
Are we expected to travel home after the first week? What about travel back home after BI is complete? Just checking to see what to do before emailing them back with my travel request. Thanks! |
Positive space to/from training. Most people go home but you don't have to check out from your hotel. After the first week you take care of your own travel arrangements. You can stay if you want but no body from my class 2 years ago stayed in town.
Welcome to United! |

Don't PS5 to LHR, unless that is your home of record. It doesn't work out well.
