Displacement pre-announcement
Company just put out a document on upcoming Displacements, the end of which says:
"Next steps/timeline Denver – We plan to announce the closure of the DEN 76T category in the next several weeks. Flight activity on this equipment type is simply not sufficient to support a base. We’ve said for some time that we believe the DEN Airbus category is overstaffed. Similar to the IAH 737, this may not be evident because we’ve been forcing flying into the hub. However, we do not expect to announce DEN Airbus displacements at this time – we currently do not have enough clarity on future Airbus flying in DEN to take this action. We will monitor deployment plans for the recently announced purchase of used A319s, as well as pilot movement following the closure of the DEN 76T category. Either of these factors could require us to reevaluate." "Houston – In the next several weeks, we plan to announce the first of three successive IAH 737 displacements. We expect each displacement to be similar in size; however, we will stop and evaluate before proceeding with the next round. In total, we expect to displace between 100 to 150 captains and 35 to 50 first officers. We are using summer 2017 flying projections to guide our actions, and are accounting for retirements and attrition that will occur between now and then. In doing so, we were able to significantly lower the number of displacements needed, which would have been around 218 captains and 115 first officers. Our goal is to impact as few pilots as possible, as well as avoid the need for any vacancies prior to summer 2017. As always, we continue to work closely with Network Planning to search for opportunities in the flight schedule to mitigate some portion of these displacements." Many more details are in the actual document, but these two paragraphs sum up where the rubber meets the road. |
They are already massively imbalanced on the 737 and 320 in DEN in the CA seat. Theres going to either be secondaries off the CA seat or they are going to be offering a big vacancy to equalize the FO seats.
Which way will they go........... |
AAAAHHHH !!! Council 33 where is your resolution for your members.

Every Den 76T pilot that CAN stay in DEN, WILL stay in DEN. The 320 and 737 fleets there are going to get bombarded with 80 more pilots.
|
Gotta chuckle that this comes out the same day that Delta gets a new TA. Howard is a master of timing...

The IAH 737 CA displacements have been cut by 30-50%. C-171 should be happy with that, and no mention of IAH 76T displacements.

No problem getting displaced. Probably in the first round. Gonna run out and buy a Peyton Jersey this weekend. If Council 33 doesn't insist those folks get the same closing the base grandfather deal the 74 folks get they are asleep at the wheel. |
WADR, if you think that's what happened, you've been asleep at the wheel.
