Airbus. And it ain't close. The bottom FO on the 73 in IAH has been here 2 years.

Training. It seems there is almost universal agreement, UAL 737 is at the minimum level required by the FAA. It should be getting better as things move to Denver.

I am a post-merger hire, so I don't have a LUAL/LCAL dog in this fight, but I have now been to training in both places (IAH 737 and TK 76T) and completely disagree with this assessment. I keep hearing it, though.

My 737 training in IAH was much more organized and the sims were significantly ahead of what they had at TK.

I was really looking forward to 76T training because I had heard so much about how wonderful TK was. "You'll finally see how a professional training system is run" was a fairly common quote.

I was disappointed. But hey, I passed and I felt confident to fly the line, which is the whole point, so it worked.

76T training at TK sucked IMO… most disjointed training plan and the FTIs didn't know their "stuff"… PIs were good. Granted its been a year since i've attended… hopefully its getting better now that the FTIs that were recalled have some practice under their belts...

Thanks for the info, appreciate it.

Another question... in case A320 IAH isn't initially available, which is an easier commute from Houston: IAH-EWR, IAH-DC, IAH-SFO?

Thanks!

I wouldn't count on IAH initially. Some of us who have been on property since late April-May still haven't seen IAH. Kind of hard to gauge with the 73 reduction in IAH which is probably why there haven't been postings for Airbus Houston lately. They are most likely waiting on the dust to settle.

My guess, IAH-SFO is prob the easiest followed by DC then EWR but I could be waaaaay off too.

I was looking at the bid packs for August for both the A320 and 737. My question is how often do those flying out of Newark end up originating trips out of LGA? Looking at it as a percentage of trips it seems like the A320 does a lot more flying out of LGA.

I've done the commute to NY from living in Jersey for a year, and would like to avoid having to do LGA on short call... NY traffic is a total crapshoot and LGA is a much worse animal than JFK.

You are only responsible for the short call time constraints at EWR. If assigned a trip for the satellite airports get there as soon as possible.
