UAL still looking at CS100 & E2 after 700s?
Not sure if this has been discussed. Looks like United is still considering a 100-seater order beyond the 40 737-700s recently ordered... SWISS will operate its first CS100 in the coming months (hopefully providing some good operating data) while the E2 is due out in 2-3 years.

Alright man, what's the angle?
Do you work for bombardier? |
The company needs to order a SNB in order to gain relief from the "scope choke" in the UPA.
They can order all the 737s they want, but unless they order a new Small Narrow Body (SNB-100 seat-class class airplane), the company is limited on the amount of 76 seat regional aircraft they can have. Good new is the 737 order was truly for growth! They still need to get a SNB to accomplish what they want. |

Do you work for bombardier? No, in reality, I have been a Bombardier operator for many years (both 121 and 135). Yes, Bombardier has not always been a great, consistent manufacturer. However, I have been keenly interested in the C-Series since its inception given its clean sheet design and I have been concerned about the many recent Bombardier missteps and how that would impact a great leap in technology like we are seeing in the C-Series. It is a phenomenal platform (you can fly it efficiently between LAS-LAX or between SBA-HNL or BOS-LCY). The passengers will have fantastic seating, new overhead bins and much better windows for more natural light. Up front, this aircraft was designed by pilots for pilots. The technology employed is as sophisticated or better than what you would see in the 787 - and it will be a comfortable cockpit with sides sticks and huge windows for great visibility. This will be a comfortable cockpit for short, multiple hops or for longer flights (it can fly 3,000 miles). I want to fly it myself! I really think this video does a good job describing the platform and the technological advances: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9yWF9cCVJY Overall I am very impressed with the program and I believe it is an apples to oranges comparison when you look at the current Embraer E-Jets. Sure, the E2 version will be better than the existing E190/95, but we have to wait 3 years to see it. The C-Series will be operational in 2-3 months at SWISS and we will get to see how it operates on the line. Let's hope for a smooth entry-into-service. Again, both Delta and United are apparently considering the C-Series versions (CS100 or CS300) - with Bombardier's need for a big deal, now is the time to negotiate and get favorable pricing! |

Do you work for bombardier? Charles Bombadier latest concept jet is capable of reaching Mach 24 - more than twice the speed of the Skreemr and 12 times faster than Concorde. Dubbed the 'Antipode', it can carry 10 people up to 12,430 miles (20,000km) in under an hour, allowing it to travel from London to New York in just 11 minutes. How about the fact that more jets at mainline is a plus for everyone no matter if you are a new hire as an FO overall making more than you would as a RJ captain or if you were a junior cS100 captain making more than you would as a mainline FO
Or should we hold out for a 3% Pay raise and keep the RJ BS alive so thousands of pilots can live on substandard wages as ALPA professional pilots |

I know it's just semantics, but I wanted to highlight that need NSNB on the property to get the additional 76 seaters. Orders aren't enough. |

CS isn't happening , get over it. It would take 2 years to get the CS program up and running if they were going to do it, which they aren't.
Thank you Mr. Embraer. Clearly you know everything. How long have you been negotiating a potential order? 2 years to get the CS program up and running? Really? Bombardier would likely move heaven and earth if UAL made an order. There are leasing companies with early CS100 slots that could accommodate UAL should they need aircraft ASAP. SWISS will start to use the CS100 in the next two months and SWISS pilots are already being trained.... When is the first E2 expected? 2-3 years? Gee, I don't know how I will get over it if you guys fly a revamped E190 in 3+ years... I'll be devastated! :) |
