yea, jw has been skulking about in union gigs since here first days at ua. she slipped into the training center soon after being hired because she had flown the 757 at her foreign carrier and the tk managers thought this qualified her to teach 757. at tk, she dived into union politics. she's been die hard into union work, and very close to some of the mec chairs who gave away sooooo much over the past fifteen years. the comments about her style and personality coming through at new hire presentations are not at all surprising. sorry to the new hires being subjected to that crap. that said... some great people do work in the union. the tough part is parsing the good folks from the political types. good luck with that !

It basically came across as you all better give or we'll know who didn't and we'll talk to you about it. One person did not elect to give any money as their significant other already does and they were pulled aside and questioned as to why. That left a bad impression of intimidation for those who came from non union operators. It shouldn't have felt like that.

I bet many, if not all, cancel PAC auto contributions after the first year due to situations like BI presentations... Need either a new chair or new approach rather than arm twisting.

I guess I was wrong and I can admit that. Those are not the tactics to get half wingers to participate. ALPA PAC should and does sell itself as a worthwhile avenue to affect positive change in all our careers.
Maybe a call to your reps or PDR will get the ball rolling in the right direction.
We don't want one of their first impressions of UAL ALPA to be a "hard sell".

I went through Indoc 1.5 years ago and also recall the PAC presentation by the same female as EXTREMELY pushy and in our faces. I had every intention of contributing but almost didn't because her delivery was so condescending. In the end, our class had 100% participation. Not sure if that still stands. It does for me anyway.

I have always contributed to the PAC... Agree that pilots don't need to be arm twisted using the scared straight tactics... This needs to change at BI.
