Do you know what date in Jan, 2000? I'm a 24Jan hire with a number just around 9800. I thought I was at least 2 years away from captain seat. Thanks.

Btw, does anyone know where to find your real-time seniority number? I assume PBS's number is real time, but when it's closed during the bidding processing, you can't see it. The PDF file on flying together seniority list is a snapshot done once a month, isn't it?

Thanks again!

In CCS, go to Reports, Staffing and enter your last name or employee number.

Hi all,

I'm one of those guys who didn't return in '07. The contract at the time forced us to make a decision whether to return or not based on reverse seniority. Very tough decision. Lost lots of sleep.

I was curious as to where I'd stand in seniority had I gone back. I was hired 3/20/00 at L-UAL.

Definitely miss the flying I used to do on the Shuttle. There are times where I wish I'd have gone back. Miss the west coast. I know I would have been furloughed again in the spring of '09 had I gone back.

I had my standing bid in for SEA on 9/11. Was hoping to get there within a year until that morning. Would probably be based in SFO now. No idea where I'd sit in seniority.

Anyone have any insight?

Currently top 10% in a captain's seat (in domicile) and drive to work.

With all the projected growth (737s) wondering, and will to the day I retire, if I made a mistake.

Thanks,

GP

Assuming you are at SWA. Got hired in late 2002/early 2003, and top 10% on the left seat? I'd say you're doing damn good. Other than the wide-body flying you are missing out on, which really is a whole different ball of wax, imho you didn't make a mistake. The guys who left UPS, FedEx, and SWA in the late 90s, early 2000, to come to United were the ones who made the mistake. I still wonder I made the mistake of not jumping trying to jump to FedEx after my first furlough.

Pretty sure a 2002/2003 hire @ SWA is not in the top 10%. ;)

E190 captain. Would be about 50th percentile on the bus.

Widebody flying doesn't really interest me anymore. Flew cargo overseas and domestic. Just want to be home as much as possible now.

The CCS Staffing report is (I believe) your "true" system seniority, "moved up" by any LTAs or other Leaves of Absence.

Once or twice, I've seen my seniority slip by a few numbers.....assuming it was because someone came back.

You can find "seniority" on the staffing page, vacancy bidding, displacement bidding, and PBS....the only two that are the same or very close are staffing and PBS.

This link is useful for the published system number, but doesn't take leaves into account.

Yeah I know, it didn't seem right to me so was trying to clarify. Many of my old squadron members are at SWA and I didn't think they were that senior!😎

Did you ever check your PM?

I was hired at UAL about six months before you in '99 and was immediately hired at your present employer when furloughed by UA in '03.

Made the decision to return to UAL in '07 from the left seat of the bus. We all know what happened next.

As a total QOL pilot I'm totally happy with my decision to return to UA given the present circumstances at both companies in 2016 considering the relative pilot contracts (or lack thereof), fleets, flight ops culture (yes I typed that), expected retirements, and apparent mainline growth.

But in the end we won't know who made the better call until we both retire.

Who knows? If our airlines were to ever merge you would most likely end up far senior to the pilots that returned to the mothership.
