Curious about seniority

Hi all,

I'm one of those guys who didn't return in '07. The contract at the time forced us to make a decision whether to return or not based on reverse seniority. Very tough decision. Lost lots of sleep.

I was curious as to where I'd stand in seniority had I gone back. I was hired 3/20/00 at L-UAL.

Definitely miss the flying I used to do on the Shuttle. There are times where I wish I'd have gone back. Miss the west coast. I know I would have been furloughed again in the spring of '09 had I gone back.

I had my standing bid in for SEA on 9/11. Was hoping to get there within a year until that morning. Would probably be based in SFO now. No idea where I'd sit in seniority.

Anyone have any insight?

Currently top 10% in a captain's seat (in domicile) and drive to work.

With all the projected growth (737s) wondering, and will to the day I retire, if I made a mistake.

Thanks,

GP

9871. Guam FO and ORD 756 FO are a couple in your class, and any equipment in SFO.

By the time you retire you'll have wished you'd stayed and glad you left three times over. You make choices based on info you have at the time. If you made your decision for family, you will never regret it. I didn't--and do.

I was hired in January of 2000, presently a 737 FO in LA at about 25%.

The most junior Captain on the property (LUAL) is a January 2000 hire, SFO Bus Capt.

Hired in 2008, started Feb 2013. 737 FO in LA at around 38%. That's crazy. Really a lost decade!

We'll all look back the day we retire and wonder. Then life moves on. Contrary to seniority arguments, you know as well as any of us that in two years we could all be looking for jobs. Growth today means nothing tomorrow.

The day I'm watching my "life sunset" and weighing in on my mistakes, it definitely won't be about the career I chose.

I hope your life is healthy and full.
