Pilot interview

Can anyone tell me the secret to getting an interview at United other than filling out an Application on AirlineApps.com?

worstpilotever 07-25-2016 12:04 PM

How long ago did you fill it out? They usually call you 4 weeks after you submit your app.

Seriously have you read any of the other threads on this subject?? Your question will be answered (or rather, not answered) ad nauseam.

Good luck

KingAir42 07-25-2016 12:22 PM

I update it every 3 months

Update AT LEAST once a month.

Triumph 07-25-2016 01:14 PM

The secret these days is acquiring a rec from a chief pilot. Other than that, it's anybody's guess.

Good luck!

Aquaticus 07-25-2016 02:31 PM

One of the most disheartening and motivating things about trying to get on with a legacy is that there are a 4000+ people that look just like you on paper. Go to a career fair and stand in line with harrier pilots, guys with 15,000 hrs, and regional guys that have been captains for a decade. You dont need to be perfect to get the job but you definitely need to put in more effort than the other guys to get noticed. Career fairs, network, letters of rec, proofing your app every other month, keep updating, and don't get discouraged.

I thought that applicant even admitting that they know the CP would make them suspect.

Exactly, FedEx your resume rolled up inside a uniform shoe with a note that says "Now that I've got my foot in the door". That always makes an impression.

Fail!

If you are flying, update it every two weeks and make sure nothing with a hard expiration date is expired in airline apps.

Good Luck!

Good afternoon everyone,
What's the recommended interview prep firm, particularly for United interview?
Not received an invitation, just gathering info in case it happens.
Thank you in advance.

They'll say: "You're hired! We needed something for our new-hire baggage handlers to practice loading and unloading.
Now get back in the box." :p

Next round of Hogan invites will be early Sept for Oct interview dates.

stoki 08-14-2016 06:28 AM

Does anyone know if having an intl or foreign current address somehow puts you at a disadvantage? Working for a loco on a 320 in Europe now, before that was at 2 regionals in the U.S, and am wondering if being detached from the U.S market counts against you somehow..

It shouldn't.

Only for cargo carriers (Fedex, UPS). You must have resided in the US in the past 5 years to be considered for employment at those carriers. For all other passenger US carriers, it is not a problem.

I just saw one outside of steamboat springs. It was riding a Unicorn and had a chupacabra running next to it with a collar on. Strangest thing ever. I swear.
