Certainly many of us remember all the wild speculation during our bankruptcy from everyone with an opinion to those with ulterior motives. Rule number one is don't worry about what you can't control.

Analysts and hedge funds that force their way onto the BOD should not run airlines.
We get our buts kicked in DC domestically because everyone wants to go to DCA. Our nations capital will always demand healthy international service and United offers that and its profitable, just not mind blowing profitable. If UA closed its IAD operation AA would start up an exact duplicate route structure the next day. Same with LAX. Oscar and his crew could not possibly be that stupid.......I hope:o |

I tend to agree with you. LA is a huge market and if we pull out it will be filled by the rest. Same for DC, hope this never comes to fruition.
AA can't fly international out of DCA, no one can. If y'all haven't noticed, all the majors have been retrenching into their respective uncontested hubs (with exception of LA and ORD). Revenue from IAD wouldn't go away, it would just be connect in EWR or JFK to go overseas or ORD or PHL etc. In general though gov tickets aren't all that profitable, it's the lobbyists and private companies doing business in the capital that would bring the profit on a direct flight. If UAL de-hubbs LAX, they would probably be trying instead to funnel more traffic through SFO, IAH and DEN |

Just as an outsider, I don't think de-hubbing an operation is the same as a "pull out" per se. I'm sure your mgmt would be aggressively selling tickets, just connecting through another regional hub.

Not that I can post. It's proprietary data from my brother in law whose an equity analyst for a major firm that they mine from open source info (SEC filings, load factor reports from airports, etc).

How many runways does Newark have?

Maybe UAL is renegotiating the lease on the double wide trailer they use as a terminal at IAD. Might help lower the charges MWAA hits UAL with to operate out of IAD.
|
I shudder to think what MWAA would charge for a new terminal.
