Word out is that maintenance reviewing records and maintenance books
for some used ones from PIA and some new 300s that they swapped for the 787-9

According to the rumor mill, yes in addition. It was talked about a couple days ago on UALpilot forum.

Interesting, but in the finance news the last year Boeing says it needs to sell more classic 777's to bridge the gap to the 777x, not less. Must be more to the story. Maybe they were going to defer delivery, and switching the order to 787's pushes delivery out 5 years, accomplishing the same thing for PIA.

Who knows, but the more wide bodies on our property, the better.

PIA switching their orders to 787's frees up production slots for another customer to get planes sooner. Or add to an existing order? Maybe a valuable customer you'd really like to keep happy.
