I know the military has its own form of stage check and i dont know if those mean more or not. A 141 stage check failure is litterally just saying "ok your not quite ready for your checkride, we dont want you to have a failure on your record so train up a little more and try again."
I stand corrected actually, i just looked at my friends and it says proficiency checks. Im sure they are more reffering to 121 checks but since it does state it i guess i would put it down.

Heres the latest update, I'm not sure if it's been posted somewhere else:

It's been a very good year at United with a strong operational performance, a variety of exciting product and route launches, and many improvements to both the customer and employee experience. It was also a good year for our pilot hiring department, as we welcomed 502 new pilots to the seniority list. We also had 77 pilots return from furlough and 61 additional pilots return from various leaves of absence. In summary, we hired and welcomed back a total 640 pilots in 2016. Ten of our newest pilots were graduates of our Career Path Program with CommutAir and ten were graduates of our CPP with ExpressJet.

Now that 2016 is in the books, we turn our attention to the upcoming busy summer flight schedule. With a planned incremental increase in narrowbody block hours for the summer, we are setting our sights on hiring 263 new pilots in the January - April timeframe. Their assignments will be primarily on the B737 and A320. We don't have hiring numbers yet for the second half of 2017 but as our retirements continue to increase each year, we will likely have a busy fall as well.

As always, plans are subject to change and we will update this site with any significant modifications.

How often do they tend to update this ? 263 isn't too much I would imagine just to cover retirements , let alone any planned growth .

It seems like they only update it every quarter or so. Their plans for hiring change daily though.

263 January thru April. looks like normal numbers for a quarter. Not numbers for the whole year.

But generally training slows to nada in the summer, then resumes in the fall.
260 in the 1st half, 260 in the 2nd half, roughly 500 souls. Which is about the same as 2016, and matches expected retirements plus a little extra for slop?

I realize this is a moving target, but for those of you currently in or awaiting a new-hire class, how long was the wait between your interview date and class date? Thanks.
