At least 14 if they got any decent seniority. 2 weeks vacay with OCV is 4 weeks guaranteed plus at least 1 week before and after with smart bidding totaling 6 weeks off. They can do this twice then conflict bid vacation week number 5 for at least 2 more weeks.

And guys with over 10 years are getting 8 weeks, which can turn to 10-12 pretty easily. Want to know why there hasn't been a mass exodus? It's because if OCV. We are still desperately short with tons of JA calls--IN MAY!

Who needs OCV except the very junior??? Senior guys can get eight weeks off easily with two weeks and three with the one remaining week. That is 19 weeks a year! Don't need OCV for that, just good bidding, thats why the numbers departing were so low!

I love vacation, but just want to be clear about it for others. UPS offers 5 weeks of paid vacation a year. Any days off around your vacation are not paid vacation days.

Counting days not working and not getting paid, as vacation would mean that pilots on average get two weeks of vacation every month. If a vacation is simply a paid or unpaid day of not working then I agree with the you and the other posters.

Example:

13 "months" in a year
work two weeks a "month"
26 work weeks in a year
5 weeks of paid vacation
26-5 =21 weeks of work for the year.
(rounded for simplicity)( History major here so my math maybe wrong)

Those senior guys are still working the equivalent of 21 weeks spread out through the year.

I agree that a UPS pilot can easily have 4 weeks in a row off. However two weeks of those days are vacation days and the other two weeks are the pilots normal non paid days off. OCV is a great program for us and lets those less senior actually use vacation to drop a day of work.
