Default New hire Rookie Mistakes

I thought it would be a good idea to start a funny and lighthearted thread... to share some gotchas about being a new hire.

I’ll go first.

1. Learn to decode encrypted messages involving GMT and local time on various pieces of paper and websites. Showing up for work 24 hours early is better than showing up a day late. Thank goodness I was there a day early.

2. Never.... ever.... place food wrapped in plastic in the oven to “warm up”. Even on the lowest setting.

3. Last one, do not leave the toilet seat lid up on the MD11 and paper towels/water bottles/toilet paper rolls laying loose in the sink area.... while flying over the Rockies.

**Words of wisdom, just doing my part to help the next guy along!!! Hahahaha.

Don't get into fist fight with sim partner in the hotel after passing your type ride. Heard about that one from ACP in training center a few days ago.,

Don't place a higher priority on your cell phone than operating the aircraft (if you want to keep your job)

Don't argue on the B&G.

Don't buy a house until you make it thru training/finish probation.

Buy a house, but make damn sure you don’t fail a drug test, or commit violence in the workplace.

It’s not hard to keep your nose clean on probation.

Don't move to a domicile for the job, especially if your spouse and children are in a good place.

That's probably a wise idea.

Any idea how many UPS pilots commute versus live in base?
