Well, I clicked. This is what I got...
"Schedule An Appointment...The next available appointment is on: There are no more appointments available." Nice. That's just great. That is just like our trade system, automatically denies ! Welcome to UPS. |

The number of NURPs (non Union replacement pilots) is up to UPS. It's important to note how the corporate mentality is at UPS.
UPS has traditionally been uber loyal to their managers. Outside of the airline, UPS promotes from within. Managers have years and years of expertise in the jobs they supervise. That's why the last five years have been so alarming. UPS has cut management ranks ahead of union positions all through the company...except the airline. UPS NURPS know this and are nervous. There has been NURP hiring but they've had more retirements than new hires. Total number of managers is less now than at any time in the last 10 years. They did actually hire a handful (less than 5) during the furlough. That's what has us so peeved. Nobody really knows what their intention is, but the problem hasn't gotten any worse. Rumors of the Feb class having 4 NURPs is still just a rumor. |

Whalesurfer--thanks for the reply:). No, I haven't done a psych test. Don't see any buttons or links for one on my app. Maybe that is something that happens after I contact HR? I plan on clicking the "schedule" button next week to see what happens.
Do you have any sponsors here at brown? If so I'd ask him/her to call the HR and see what's up? The confusion on the different messages people keep getting when filling out the online app seems to be a good reason for your buddy to "highlight" your name. Use it to your advantage if you can. :-) |
Addressing some statements about how many NURPs we have and whether UPS can hire unlimited numbers of them; I'm not an expert but we has as many as 190, now around 120.
Can UPS hire unlimited numbers of Flight Qualified Management and Supervisors? ANS Q1: Yes. But they cannot do unlimited flying contractually protected by the contract accomplished by IPA pilots. Q2: Can UPS hire management and supervisory pilots as replacements of IPA pilots for UPS flying? In other words, can UPS cease hiring union pilots and only hire non union pilots and eliminate the IPA? ANS Q2: No. The fundamental protections are in the UPS/IPA collective bargaining agreement. The Scope Article C.2 restricts known UPS flying to IPA pilots only except for non-normal surges like Peak (Nov 15-Jan 1) and all known flying must be placed in bid packages for IPA pilots to bid and fly per Article 13.B.1 |
Hi all,
Did anybody's application status go from 'inactive' to 'active'??? Initially when I completed the app, I got the "thanks for submitting..no more testing etc". As well as my status going immediately to inactive, and out of curiosity I check today and it's back to active. Is this a good sign? However I do not have the option to schedule a meeting button on my app..... I'M LOST lol Regards, SD |
