Could be more of a push than an actual win. Not saying good or bad, just look at it realistically

What scheduling gains that were "on the table" did the EB "forfeit". Nobody is claiming the TA is perfect but one less reserve day per pay period They can now extend you 1-2 days into off days which couldn't be done before, the trip-drop boardProbably only works for base line trips or turns as someone probably can't fit another week into their week-on/week-off schedule or a 10-14 day int'l trip, all the new vacation optionsthe 2 week option is a good deal, but the 1 week option is terrible. You are now responsible for the deficit, and shorter duty limits for call-outs between 12 am and 5 amReally only applies to the domestic turn lines sound like scheduling improvements to me.
And what is wrong with bringing our retirement benefits up to FexEx levels? We still need 30 years to match their 25 A plan |

Ups TA defined benefit plan pays 120K at 30 yos (= FX) with slight increases or 90K under the current contract. The plan is also tied in with mgmt's pension plan for added security. Defined contribution is 12% of gross income (FX =9%). 401K is unmatched.
The contracts are generally very similar but overall FX seems to have the better one and is also the better company to work for. FX has a lot more movement while UPS has better benefits, especially health. The IPA is almost half the size of the FX pilot group, diverse, unified, and a pretty cool bunch to work with. Lots of military guys at UPS but overall a good mix of all backgrounds. I've heard of guys getting on without knowing anyone. App is at something like mgrhr.ups.com I don't think you can go wrong at any of the majors. Edit: https://ups.managehr.com |

I'm sure UPS has a number of things that are better than FedEx, but significantly better health benefits? We still have good old union health insurance at FedEx, the stuff that doesn't exist out there in the real world any more. Sure, I'd like a zero premium every month, but besides that, I don't think it gets much better.
Unless I am mistaken, you're health benefit costs float after the initial year; ups costs are fixed. Knowing what you are going to pay over the life of the contract is a plus in my opinion. Maybe you like the surprise every year of what your health care costs would be...I know I wouldn't. JMO |
