UPS info

Few years from Air Force retirement as F-15 pilot. Trying to research the airlines and make best decision for upcoming transition. I like cargo and do not mind night flying.

I know a lot of people who have transitioned to the majors, SWA, and Fedex. I do not know one person at UPS, what website you even apply at or retirement info?

Does UPS stay away from military aviators? Anyways, id like to educate myself on the application process and retirement plans.

How does UPS retirement compare to the FEDEX 2% retirement pension system.

Thanks for your time.

Before you get inundated with snide remarks, you might want to do a search on ups TA in these threads. That, at least, will answer your questions about ups retirement vis a vis fedex.

As far as applying, the airline profiles should give you a start.

Ups TA defined benefit plan pays 120K at 30 yos (= FX) with slight increases or 90K under the current contract. The plan is also tied in with mgmt's pension plan for added security. Defined contribution is 12% of gross income (FX =9%). 401K is unmatched.

The contracts are generally very similar but overall FX seems to have the better one and is also the better company to work for. FX has a lot more movement while UPS has better benefits, especially health. The IPA is almost half the size of the FX pilot group, diverse, unified, and a pretty cool bunch to work with. Lots of military guys at UPS but overall a good mix of all backgrounds. I've heard of guys getting on without knowing anyone. App is at something like mgrhr.ups.com

I don't think you can go wrong at any of the majors.

Edit: https://ups.managehr.com

Exactly.

Whatever happened to the old adage -- "Go to the one that offers you a job FIRST ? "

I must be old or stupid, or both ? :D

"Go to the one that offers you a job FIRST" ... but don't be afraid to jump ship if a better deal comes along.

Sorry, still trying to figure out why we chose to forefit scheduling improvements for DB plan gains.

They LOVE military pilots so if anything your background will help you to get hired here. You still have a few years to figure out your dream airline but my advice is to apply everywhere and go to the one that calls you first.

Good luck to you!

PS.
Most of all, NEVER EVER apply for management pilot position here.

Line pilot application:

NURP application: (non-union-replacement-pilot)

General job search website. Type "pilot" in search window.

What scheduling gains that were "on the table" did the EB "forfeit". Nobody is claiming the TA is perfect but one less reserve day per pay period, the trip-drop board, all the new vacation options, and shorter duty limits for call-outs between 12 am and 5 am sound like scheduling improvements to me.

And what is wrong with bringing our retirement benefits up to FexEx levels?

Sorry, think you have me confused with a no voter.
