Jumpseating out of SDF
I am taking a little "networking" round trip on Tuesday. Driving up from Nashville to do a PHX turn out of SDF on UPS. Can anyone offer me details on how and where to go when I arrive at the airport. Ive read about a guard shack where Ill need to be escorted into Flt ops, but unsure how to get there and where to park. Then once inside Flt ops do I check in with someone, and help myself to the plane to meet the crew? Or will I be escorted to the aircraft? Any and all info is greatly appreciated. Is there parking by the guard shack? Or should I plan on parking at SDF and taking a cab over to UPS. Also, In PHX Ill have about 2 1/2 hours between flights. What can I anticipate while Im there. Thanks all!!

I don't know what to tell you about parking. I doubt that they'll let you park in our lot by the guard Shack, but there's a lot across the street for the big ups ops center that I don't think requires access. Would be a very short walk. Taxi from the terminal but you'll likely **** off that driver. Might consider parking at the holiday Inn (I think it's south) and for a tip their driver will take you to the guard Shack. Our jumpseat desk might have info on sdf parking for you. You can park at the training center but getting picked up may be an issue. Short walk to the employee's entrance but I don't know if they'll process jumpseaters there
Once inside ops they'll help you find your crew.
In Phoenix you'll go with the crew and sit in one of our luxurious gateway crew lounges. Bring food. The crew will be catered but you might not be.

You can park in the UPS lot by the Edgewood Security Shack. It'll be a 30 second walk. It's not a problem and requires no special access. Most SDF based domestic pilots park there anyway to avoid having to mess with badging in and out of the security gate in the official lot.

If you have one of those reflective vests, bring it. I'd also keep a few resumes handy.
If you're not attached to phx, there's other out and backs that are shorter and during the daytime.
You can have the guys pull up a few bid packages to flip thru during the turn.
