Did you not see this?

1. Paul Tibbets, who just recently died.

2. Don't know.

3. Enola Gay is either his Mother, or Grandmother's name. "Enola" is "Alone" spelled backwards.

4. His son is, I think LtCol Paul Tibbets the 3rd, and is the Squadron Commander of the B-2 Squadron at Whiteman. The Squadron has the same designation (507th BS?) as the original squadron that Tibbets was in for the Hiroshima drop.

Well done.. you move to the front of the class.

#2.. http://www.toybum.com/getpicture.asp?itemid=47&type=gal

I had the privilege of attending a dinner for him a few years ago and part of his original crew was there. All old, shrinking but still with quick wits. As I remember it was him, his nav, one crew member and his mechanic.

Also attending the birthday party was the P-38 flown by Steve Hinton along with Roy Schafner (sp?), the fellow who put up the final $$$ to put Glacier Girl in the air. A third figure was Don Lopez who was a major figure at the Air and Space Museum. Schafner, Lopez and Tibbets have all gone west.

It was a grand evening and a great privilege.

It's not the 507th BS, but the 509th Compositie Sqd.
