couple of my astrophotos
Not airplane pictures but I have been into astrophotography for quite a few years. With the advent of cooled CCD astro cameras and high precision mounts and autoguiding the amateur can now capture images that were considered incredible just a few years ago. there are guys out there with some ureal high dollar equipment and my images dont even compare, but I though I would share some of these with the group.
Rosette Nebula (NGC 2244) in the constellation Monoceros in Hydrogen-Alpha light using a 6 nm narrow band filter. Equipment and exposure details below the image.

Edge-on galaxy NGC 891 in the constellation Andromeda, distance about 10 million light years.

Hey thanks Flea. Just a hobby but who knows? I've actually done a little bit of real science too...... searching for exo-planets and supernovas. Havent found an exo-planet (analyzing the data over months is extremely tedious) yet but I did get a couple of supernovas. Gotta like things that go "boom!" However in both cases there was a guy that beat me to the punch by less than one hour in sending in his findings!!! amazing.........some other poor schmuck was out in the dark skies of the MOFN hunting supernovas in distant galaxies. How Freaking nerdy is that????? Just call me super ******ing geek!
