A few shots from work.
#6
Thanks guys. Once the ramp clears out at the end of the day, I have free roam of the place. I hopped on a tug and was just driving around looking for things to snap a few shots of.
The belly shot is actually an A321. The perspective in the photo makes it look a little larger it seems. I was sitting down indian style when I took that. Behind me is a large fuel cell that our 321s have. The aft hold is actually about twice as long as what you can see in that shot, but thats only the usable space given the fuel cell parked in it.
The Alaska tail was one of those pure luck shots. I shot it by hand as it taxied by at a shutter speed of 1/2.5....really slow for a night hand panning shot!
As for the nipple on the engine....that is actually the mighty Rolls Royce RB211 on the equally mighty 757. I have never actually reached up to touch the tip on the 757s engines, so I can't say for sure that its rubber, but I believe you are right. I'll check next time at work. The tip on the IAE V2500s that are used on the Airbus equipment is rubber, and surprisingly soft, at that.
