Yes. I hear that there are suppose to be quite a few Hornet displays, but if you come across one from VFA-125 then there is a good chance that I'll be standing near-by (I'll be the one WITHOUT the British accent )

USMC,

I didn't know they allowed men of lesser breeding to fly Hornets now days! Shocking simply shocking!

Default "Thunderbird" T-38....Sort-Of

The Thunderbird-painted T-38 from the first page is Ross Perot Jr's personal steed. Saw it flying a few years back while on a Cross-Country through AFW.

I say "T-38...sort-of" because it is actually a hybrid, made from a T-38 (forward fuselage and wings), and an F-5B (aft fuselage, including the speedbrakes, a hook, and a drag-chute).

It has more thrust than a T-38C, but has less drag, as it does not have the PMP mod, which ruined the aerodynamics of the airplane.

The jet has an Air Force 781 maintenance book, and is titled "T-38/F-5B."

Did already being a hornet pilot cause that ride to be a bit anti-climactic? I mean, part of the excitement of riding with them is already lost for you since you essentially do all the same things and have the same skill set as they have.

Also, do you think the Blue Angel pilots really have a noticeable degree of higher stick and rudder skill than your 'typical' hornet pilot, or would most experienced hornet pilots be capable of that degree of airmanship? Perhaps so, but maybe not all pilots possess the personality qualities they look for?
