Pima Air & Space Museum
A neat museum with many historical airplanes. It's a little sad to see them rotting away in the desert, but at the same time, it almost gives a better feeling that these were real machines flown by real men. Perfectly painted indoor museum pieces just don't seem as real...

It is a great place. I never saw that B-36 ( think that is what that big 6 engine bomber is, not sure) there before. I was very fortunate to retire several aircraft to the "Bone Yard" and got the nickle tour of that place a few times, it is mind boggling how many great aircraft are out there lined up as fare as the eye can see. I Highly recommend going to this museum as well as going to and taking the tour of the Atlas Missile silo, It really gives you insight to some of the true cold war culture.

The silo
Definitely worth a drive down to the (Titan) silo. Makes one appreciate how important it was to check the "pilot" block on your AF application form. The rocket fuel they used (UDMH) was truly nasty: corrosive, explosive, and poisonous. If you got trapped in the crew capsule by a nearby bomb blast, the "emergency exit" was an upward-sloping tunnel filled with sand. A handy shovel was provided.
