Got some additional shots of what appears to be some VFMA (AW)-121 Hornets in the pits there, too.

The only crash I can think of off hand where the WSO morted and the pilot didn't is this one:
Dennis M. White, Captain, United States Air Force
Dennis M. White, Captain, United States Air Force
I thought the mishap was suppose to be out west. I'm not sure if the pilot was suppose to have been killed or not. I had heard that it was two Strike Easgles doing BFM and the one had an OCF incident - either they weren't suppose to be maneuvering like they were or restrictions were put on them soon after. The WSO was a black guy, LtCol, but for the life of me I can't remember his name. I have pictures of them from when they were showing us the planes in 92-93 timeframe in San Antonio but they are all packed up right now.
So...no mishaps fitting that definition huh? Could just be a bad story I was told , Of course if I have the story wrong then that means the guy is probably still alive!

I was a single -seat guy. Obviously those are Deltas and the one on the end even looks like a Delta canopy rasied.
I was with VMFA-251 'Thunderbolts' - lighting bolt on the tail.
If you have more pictures from AJ - I might be there!
You guys just stopped in for a mid-flight fill up right?

Just looked and nothing with Thunderbolts on it. I was mostly a night flyer anyway, so I only had shots from the couple of day sorties that I had that stopped at The Jab'.

89-0479, 10 August 1992, 422 TES. Crashed NE of Las Vegas, Nevada, pilot and WSO were killed. The jet was engaged in a simulated combat exercise with another aircraft when it spun into the ground. Pilot attempted ejection; Unsuccesful. An investigation was inconclusive. Pilot: Maj. Bruce "Phoid" Netardus, WSO: Lt.Col. Wendell "Sheik" Johnson
I was thrown off by your first post saying the WSO was the only one who died.
