I spent 6 months in San Diego and knew a CFI that worked out of Palomar but I never made it to fly with him. I flew a few times with a local CFI friend out of KSEE. Must be something at KCRQ to be drawing in the x/c birds. Do you have a $1 lunch with gas purchase at the FBO? :)
I remember there's a restaurant at the terminal, courtesy cars, and a bunch of other restaurants not far. Plus it's right on the coast so you can get some fog. It was usually a pretty fun place to go.
