Default Bidding Scammers

Interesting scenario .............. Two pilots, either married or whatever, bidding opposite lines from each other, the first pilot drops his or her entire week of flying, the second pilot who is off, has placed themselves available for a number of days that will cover the first pilot's schedule footprint, which has just been entirely dropped .............. The second pilot ends up getting the first pilot's dropped schedule at extra pay ............. each other playing this game throughout the year or career .............. The net increase in pay between the two is huge, gaming the bidding system to increase a couples or between buddies, is totally a scam on the system and as far as I know ........... has not been talked about anywhere. Any of you know folks doing this ?
Obviously we don't have to be of any integrity or grit, to work here

Some holes in your scenario:

If one of them drops their entire line (almost totally impossible in today's world) and the other one picks it up - how is this a net increase in pay?

If the line was actually dropped then the trips would potentially be available to anyone and it would be a crap shoot if you think the other pilot would get them all!

If one of the pilots picked up the other pilots schedule and the second pilot sat around available for draft or just cherry picked open time then there is a possibility for a net increase but how would this be an "integrity" problem? All of that scenario is perfectly legal according to our CBA!

Sounds like you are jealous you are not married to another pilot or you have no buddies willing to work with you on your "scam"!

Also in your scenario the second pilot who picks up the extra work ends up flying 28 days a month. Also no different than having a friend of yours drop a trip and you pick it up the minute it hits open time or they call in sick last minute creating a potential draft scenario. Many many ways to work extra around here if you want and when the time is right...but who wants to work extra?

Dude, get yourself some trading partners. You don't have to be jealous, just offer to help others, and they might offer to help you.

There is no scam in your scenario, in fact, it doesn't even make sense. You don't sound like you understand how trip trading works. Why would it be a scam if one person works every day of their life, and the other person never does? If people want to run their family like that, it's their business. Picking up additional work isn't exactly a scam that only special people can do, it's available to anyone. There is some serious (and legal) scamming going on out there, but your example isn't even close. There are groups of people trading with each other, get to know them, and you can improve your own schedule.

It's a simple plot to gain more access to extra pay and flying, something that seems to go on around here ad nauseum while others are taking their time off with their families ............ There seems to be a culture around here of making a lot of money at others expense ................

You certainly haven't explained how one person dropping their schedule, while another plans to pick it up, consists of a plot to make more money. Sure, guy A picks up more trips and makes more money, but guy B makes nothing. Doesn't sound good for either party, but how is that in the least bit unethical?

Some people prefer to work more, others prefer to work less. We are fortunate at FedEx, that we often have the choice to drop more in months we'd like to have off, and work more when we want to. Choice is s good thing, not a bad one.

Perhaps this sentence in his post would be helpful? . The second pilot ends up getting the first pilot's dropped schedule at extra pay ...... He's talking about DRF/VOL.

That doesn't even seem realistic. First, they have to be drafting or doIng AVA. If they are that short, they probably won't allow a drop on that day that they are doing AVA. If it's a decent trip, someone else may earlier time stamp you with PMU, or just luck. Trying to get a specific trip on draft seems hopeless. It can take hours to get a drop processed. They both stand a decent shot to lose the trip. Plus, if it's that easy to get draft/AVA, there should be plenty of trips in open time, not just the trips the other guy drops. And at this time in bargaining, I doubt people are doing much AVA/draft anyways.

Anyways, still, even if it works out perfectly, where's the scam? Anyone can take a chance, drop all their schedule, and try to get draft or AVA. And they could end up with a zero pay bid month.
