Default FDX: Preferential Bidding

From the union:

"The Company provided a Section 25 (Scheduling) proposal. Most noteworthy, the proposal contained a form of Preferential Bidding, which would function system-wide."

For starters, it would be the END of vacation as we know it. And unfortunately, that might be the least of our worries with pref bidding. Inform yourself! Talk with friends at pax carriers who now have pref bidding. Hopefully FedElta will post regarding his experience with pref bidding vs. line bidding, as he has done in the past. Please, inform your block rep of your opinion on pref bidding.

If pref bidding is in any way, shape, or form, in the next CBA, my vote will be an automatic NO, without reading anything else in the contract.

This would be a non-starter.. This is the single greatest thing UPS and FedEx has compared to any other pilot group. Just say no, whatever they offer in return isn't worth it. Picture those 7 day vacation blocks...surrounded by 70 hours of flying, awesome.

Just read the message too, PBS would be a killer for our schedules. We thought be ing squeezed by the optimizer was bad. PBS would kill our vacation plus the ability to have large blocks of time off. With PBS they would break up a lot of the larger trips and turn them into small ones that would give you your one and seven in domicile and would turn efficiency for the company to inefficiency for you. Everyone one would have min days off.

Not to mention the productivity gains to the company would cause everyone stagnate once again. I am sure the senior guys are pushing for it. Watch out what you wish for. Who's schedule can be opitimized more? Junior or senior guys?

PBS=No vote

Now just in from the union MEC:

"To be clear - We, your MEC, Negotiating team and Officers, are not entertaining PBS. It is a non-starter."

I hope it is as clear as that statement sounds.

Automatic NO vote on any agreement that includes any "form" of PBS! Also of note, a special thank you to the FedEx management team for unifying and sparking the interest of the crew force more than 50 updates and special message lines.
