Deice/Antice
Short thread here, but something often wondered. Do fractional spend the money to deice and anti-ice like at the airlines. While I don't know the approximate cost to do this I do know that it's usually very expensive for charter/private who don't hold contracts with iceman, but if they didn't I would think would greatly hamper their operations.

This. It usually gets billed back to customer. We try to put the plane in a hanger, but they usually fill up at the busier GA airports.

Fractionals operate in the Clean Aircraft concept.
Nose to tail must be clean. We used to get away with wings n tail in the 121 world but that's hard to explain now.
As for who pays, the contract the share owner signs says that the cost of deice/Antiice is on him.
The price of glycol is a price of doing business. 10,000 gallons of glycol is cheaper than an insurance claim and multiple lawsuits.
As a former Asst CP for a fractional, I view it as "you never question a crew for driving when needed...period, end of discussion!"
As for the private owner, if you have to ask about the cost of de-icing, you can't afford the airplane.

This. I figured but wondered how was billed. On the citation I flew we never deiced only tried to hanger it and never anti iced, just waited it out.
