Adios Netjets?

I never meant to convey ease of getting hired. However, the NJ pilot who started the thread already had a conditional job offer from Delta. That was the context. Not sure how his quals compare to yours, but that should give you a bit of reassurance that an application is worth the effort. Like I said, I'm just a line pilot with no special insight. But I have spent a lot of time at the training center in the past year or two. I've met a lot of candidates, and the people in charge of hiring. I can honestly say it's a good process with lots of "fair shakes." The experience level is high, but that's the nature of the candidate pool now. Our four youngest pilots were hired this year, born in 1988. We get a ton of guys and girls with 8000+ hours (as did I), but I doubt the 27 year olds had that much. Character and personality are highly regarded. The old "would you like to spend 12 hours at work in a phone both with this guy" concept. I'd urge you not to be dissuaded at Delta or anywhere else. I got turned down at crappy supplemental carriers, cargo companies and my #1 and #2 choices. NW/Delta was pretty far down the list. Turned out to be a fatefully good matter of luck. Never count yourself out of consideration.

In regards to the Delta hiring process, uhh, ehhhmmm, some of the few NetJets pilots that have already been hired at Delta, well, ehhhmmm, didn't have the best reputations.

I have know a couple of real solid good guys who went there, but only a couple. For some reason, they do love to hire some arrogant douches.

Consider UPS/FedEX too. They both hire from the corporate pool. Pay is decent; 2nd yr FO's pay will rival most NJA senior captains pay. You can still fly the 7/7 skeds and no PBS. Health benefits are superb. They also have pensions and B funds which survived 9/11 and the Great Recession. Nite flying always sucks but from the guys I've talked to its mostly manageable. They both fly during the day and international as well. I've jumped on each one and it seemed both groups were a pretty cool bunch of pilots. Anyway, they may not be glamorous but worth perusing either one IMO. Remember, it's largely a crap shoot. Best of luck to you.

Things I like about Netjets:
Diversity of flying. I am still going to new airports I have never been too. It can be fun and keeps us sharp.
Diversity of People. I have worked in 3 fleets, and I don't know if I have worked with 2 people with the exact same background. It's interesting to hear stories from people who have flown ac and places that I never have.
Things I could do without:
My duty day seems busy all day averaging 11 hours. If were not flying, were reading notams and customer notes for the next leg...than our brief changes and were re-preparing...while cleaning and restocking.
While never boring, some days more mundane would be preferred. Knowing I have ABC overnight at the completion of the duty to do get done something I'm looking forward to would be nice. Sometimes we think were getting a 14 hour overnight only to be surprised at the end or the day that in fact we will be getting 10...just cause. This last instance is what makes me want to leave more than anything.
Nature of the beast. YMMV

Just to add to the data points.
I'm a 14-year NetJets Captain, and I'm heading to Delta in a couple of weeks. This was not a no-brainer decision. Financially, as near as I can WAG, I'll come out slightly ahead at Delta (I'm 42). A lot of voodoo magic and what-ifs involved in that equation, as anything beyond five years in aviation is an eternity.
Ultimately it came down to potential QOL for me and my family. I live in a Delta base, and that played a large factor in my decision. I'm very much tired of the 7-day trips at NJA and, at my seniority bracket, there is no end in sight for me. Add to that the current tempo of operations at NJA (I'm in the XL) and the utter lack of control over your day-to-day schedule (minus the use of fatigue), I just can't see myself spending 20+ more years at NetJets. Even if I were to get to the top 10% of the seniority list, I'd still be getting the proverbial 0400/1000 show/gos at TEB, etc., etc. as Scheduling seeks their "coverage."
I will miss the actual flying and the people, but, beyond that, I can't think of anything else. Maybe my D6as.
