On another note I had the opportunity to meet with a legacy chief pilot today and was given some insight on what they are looking for to send out interview invites.
3.0+ for GPA
Volunteer work
On avg 10 internal recs (chief pilot recs are weighted higher)
Job experience (IP, FE, DO, safety, ect...)
Job fair
Masters

It must be due to the pilot shortage that we have all been hearing about for the past couple of decades.
I ride the jumpseat often and I continue to hear about this impending pilot shortage mostly from regional pilots who are more than qualified to move on to a major but can't seem to get a call despite volunteering, multiple job fair attendances, etc.
Most airline jobs at the most desirable airlines will ALWAYS be competitive.
Everyone here is more than qualified and hope you all get the call. Good luck and happy hunting.

As a corporate chief pilot, over tha last year 4 guys have left, everyone for FDX. I can't blame them, either. One was ex-Army, the other three pure civil, no RJ, all corporate jet. All had degrees, TPIC and were real good guys. When I hear of guys with Guardguy's background, not even getting a call. I shake my head.

This thread is both very informative and depressing at the same time. I can only hope everyone posting stats here is failing to reveal their felony convictions for underground dogfighting or something.
But hey, pilot shortage.

I didn't think the UPT busts counted either, but they are listed in my Air Force records. That could be a very uncomfortable situation in the HR portion. The Delta Air Lines addendum is pretty specific:
Have you ever failed ANY checkrides (military or civilian) including phase checks, proficiency checks, FAA check rides, or line checks?

What they/we need to take from it, is that there is a quantifiable labor surplus at the qualified major airline level, something the regional applicants certainly detest to hear, considering the decade of lifetime under-compensation their families have had to endure in the process of waiting for Maná, and I don't mean the mexican soft rock band.
Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favor....

Might have better results in asking who isn't waiting on the call...
I know there's a lot more competitive guys out there:
5,400 TT
1,100 TPIC
2 Types
3,400PIC
6 years 121/135 experience
1 speeding ticket 10 years ago
I've applied at DAL, UAL & SWA.

I chose beer and girls over studying in college and had a mid 2 something gpa. I didn't put it on my resume. At my airways interview they never asked about it, it's been 4 years so I don't remember if I had to list it on the application. So I don't think a low gpa is a deal breaker. If I had to do it over again I would have partied harder in college

GPA Is not a show stopper at DAL. I had to talk about it in the interview but then they moved on.
