CFI add-on after Mil Comp MEI
Has anyone done the single engine CFI add-on after doing the mil comp MEI process? I did my test prep with Sheppard Air's software and read their suggestions but was looking for someone who has actually done it. Thanks.

I'm in the process right now. I had my PPL when I went to UPT, so I never bothered upgrading it to Commercial. Now I'm in the process of getting ready for a ATP-SEL check ride, then try to know out the CFI-SEL add-on. We'll see how it goes.

CAFB, you must be an instructor in a Mil SEL aircraft to get the mil comp CFI(ie T-6, F-16, PC12). I am a C130 IP so I got the MEI and CFII but don't have the CFI yet. I do have a SEL ATP from my time flying C208s but didn't make IP before I PCS'd.

My story...PPL prior to UPT. T-37/T-1/C-5/C-17.
Mil comp at/after UPT at CAFB gave me Multi Commercial.
Later mil comp'ed MEL CFI/II add on.
Later received training to get SEL commercial and SEL CFI in that order. No testing. Training and 2 checkrides - one for each add on.
Every pilot (non mil) I have explained that to looked at me like I was crazy - since most was done completely out of standard order. Good luck. Sheppard Air is the best resource out there.

You may want to look into getting ATP SEL instead of Commercial SEL - the checkride is much, much easier.

Interesting. Thanks for the knowledge.
So if I was a KC-135 IP then a Cessna 208 IP then the Mil Comp written test would give me both CFI and MEI as well as CFII?
Unintended benefit of 365 days flying the Caravan in Afghan-land I guess.
