Default CFII addon senior CFI?

I searched but did not find an answer. It must be on here somewhere Im sure.

The regs say you need a two year CFI to train applicants for an intial CFI certificate.

Say I have a CFI ASEL and now want to add my instrument on to my initial CFI ASEL certificate. Do I still need a two year CFI for the signoff. Reading the regs I would say no, but find it hard to believe.

What do the regs say exactly?

Once you get through the pertinent passage there really isn't much question as to who can sign you off.

You are correct; the answer is no. It is clear that § 61.195(h) pertains only to "first-time" instructor applicants. It does not matter whether you attempt the CFI-ASE test first or some other instructor rating. Once that initial CFI rating has been acquired, endorsements for any subsequent instructor rating may come from any instructor who holds that rating.

Yup, any CFI can sign off subsequent instructor ratings.

yes any CFII can sign you off, assuming that the CFII holds the appropriate instructor certificate for the airplane where the instruction is being provided (CFI-A or MEI)
