At that snapshot, possibly. Some of them are things like "ACP knob loose" or something equally minor that requires the mechanic to come out and tighten something or decide to MEL it. The neat web page we have to look at it is close to real-time so it could concievably show more a/c out of service (waiting for a writeup to be cleared) during a hub turn bank (my newly coined term?).

"ACP knob loose" won't be on there as long as "Left engine no rotation on start," obviously.

It also doesn't show a/c in heavy check or paint.

That's why one wants to add and use things like FlightStats, Flightaware, the AA web/app and the OOS page - and if you're really saavy or paranoid, MCWeb.

I've found those info sources, when all the data correspond, is waaaay more accurate than a call to dispatch or scheduling

Oh yeah... if ATW doesn't call you, your duty day starts as published - it can't be adjusted without positive contact.

Could mean it was broken enough to get it off a gate. Who does line maintenance for PSA in PHL?

There was a Comair -700 (yeah, it was a while ago) parked at the AWAC hangar in Philly... similar situation, it was broken hard and it was the most convenient place to put it. It also supplied plenty of rumor fodder for a couple days.

Yup, I don't even call dispatch anymore. Most of the time you have SS telling you his life story and that everything is running on time.

All I know is we need to be hiring more than we are if the plan is to not park airplanes and keep taking deliveries. And people don't want to come to PSA when our pay is now some of the worst in the industry. It was okay when our pay was decent and upgrades were happening left and right. But the game has changed (again). And our management doesn't seem very adept at keeping up with it.
What???? When our pay was decent? What are you talking about?
The only decent thing we have is a SAP. That's it!
