That's like half the fleet all in one spot.

Does that include the 5 captains leaving this month as explained a few posts back?

I'm interested b/c I need the time for the ATP by next July, and BE-1900 experience would be ideal (short of a King Air gig...).

I meet the minimums (with quite a bit of extra multi- & IFR time, have a BE20 initial sim training (w/ high alt end), valid written ATP, 1st Class, FCC etc.

Qs:

1) Is the FO schedule still 15 days on, 15 days off ?
2) What is the range of logged hours per month ? I understand minimum guarantee is 75, but that's for pay of course
3) Are the only junior bases "Mountain Time or westerner" still Cheyenne WY, Farmington NM and Prescott AZ ?
4) Are these BE-1900s bases?

The undercurrent of what I'm asking that objectively this would be a big, sour pill to swallow, I could rationalize being away from my family for two weeks a month but only for enough hours and experience.

Insights greatly appreciated!

I believe at Ameriflight you need cream close to ATP mins or you have to pay to play (like their Korean program).

Ya but I think you can get straight into a 99 getting pic turbine. And it's a lot of fun. 1200 hrs min instead of 1500. Just making sure people know there are other options...

Bump!

Ameriflight is a great option, especially for those wanting to fly corporate. There is a good AMF thread on the site with all the info.

Might be interesting to see where some of those Lakes planes end up...

Bump. How close is Lakes to folding? Anyone aware of the current situation over there? Google turns up lots of info about them losing routes but it'd be interesting to hear from a current laker.

FYI, Ameriflight is taking VFR Captains in New Mexico with 800TT. That would be another option as well. And Its only a 6 month contract. Pay is 33,000USD. I talked to one of their recruiter, but they don't want any part time guys.

I work for Boutique Air, great company, I got in with 400TT, paid training, paid flights to training, paid hotels, company pays for our health insurance, and our aircraft have GPS, and autopilots, not that we need them, but it does makes it easier. So many communities have asked Boutique to take over their service. I ran into some Great lakes pilots in Phoenix, as they walk past our aircraft, they pointed and laughed. I didn't think it was funny, but oh well. I like our company. The communities seem to like us as well, specially since we do not cancel half of our flights.

I suggest places like Cape Air, Boutique, IBC Airways, Via Air, all take low time pilots. Good luck.

OP is somewhat outdated, but what the heck....

I was once in your spot, ATP! I reckon that we all have been at one point!

I did not want to teach Chinese students at 500 hours, and debated whether I should go to Lakes. I held out for a while, got up to 700 hours and then a 135 Alaskan company invited me to fly CASAs for 30k; I logged about 50 - 80 hours per month.

Point being, do not give in and rush to head off to Great Mistakes. There are other jobs that can give you what you need, just search as hard as you can before you keep alive that crude smear of a company and prolong a status quo of low pilot wages.

Just plow forth and do not help an air carrier which does not fairly compensate its pilots! You will look back at this time and laugh at yourself for even considering it!

Speaking of outdated, you should probably looks at their pay rates these days. 28 bucks an hour first year, better than some of the RJ's starting. Likely a Captain by second year pay, if not first, 32-34 an hour which is comparable to second year RJ FO pay at most places, but logging PIC twin turbine time. Of course there is more to each individuals choice of an airline, but the new contract rates makes Great Lakes likely a good path for low timers when compared to instructing or doing a single engine turboprop gig.
