Default What would you truly say is the best regional

Hey guys,

I'm new to this site and to the airline scenario completely. I'm looking to move on to the regionals within the next couple of months and wanted to know what your opinions are about whats out there. What would be the best option in your opinion? I have no care where I get stationed just preferably somewhere affordable. I do have savings. I wouldn't mind upgrade time also. Just like you I want to make the majors as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance

The one that gives you the opportunity to drive to work, and cross your fingers that mainline doesn't move your company's flying around. Beyond that asking which regional is the best is akin to spending the night in a grungy bar and choosing which STD you would like to contract. They're all going to blow in one way or another, it's just deciding which part you want to suck the most, or the least (domicile cost of living, benefits, pay, upgrade time, flow, etc...). Pardon my language but I'm trying to be as honest and accurate as possible.

There is no best for everyone. What is best for one person may not be best for another. I would go to the "second best" regional in a heartbeat if they had a base where I lived and the "best" one didn't.

The better regionals to be at in terms of how the company treats the pilots and stability are usually the ones with the really long upgrades because people don't leave. The ones with high turnover and quick movement usually have high turnover for a reason, but some people are willing to gamble on chasing upgrades. Other people aren't.

There are too many factors to come up with any one "best" regional unless you list some of the things that are important to you. Do you want a quick upgrade? Best work rules? Best pay scale? Flow to a major? Where do you want to be based? If you list what you want then someone can help you out.

The one you can quit to work somewhere else. While you're there they all have their own version of suck. Just goto the one that hires you and has the best opportunity for career advancement.

The best one today will be the worst tomorrow. Make a choice based on all available information and hope for the best.
