Good job crew. Everybody's alive and they made it to Chicago...well, west Chicago.

Ok fine. What do you call it when you dump everyone on the runway? And there are no "popped" on a CRJ. There are only two doors and two over wing exits.
So again, I apologize because I wasn't there, but why "expeditiously deplane" or evac on the damn runway? Is this the result of the emergency landing checklist that automatically culminates in dumping pax on the runway? JetBlue after an engine failure and now this.
Unless there is something I'm missing, why couldn't this A/C be taxied or towed off the runway with everyone safely in their seats?
Our SOP states, after landing and "if emergency evacuation required" complete the evac checklist. This is of course PIC decision, so I'm questioning why the PIC made these decisions. Again, I wasn't there, but looking at the survivability of staying on board in both cases looked safe and prudent to me.

Looks like it was a leisurely deplaning to me...not even expeditious . Everyone had their purses and backpacks, and only the MCB was opened. There may not have been a tug readily available to tow the disabled aircraft off the runway, and it looks like a nice day.
