Scroll down a bit, looks like National Geographic wanted some crash footage, I guess Mexico was less trouble with regulations. Hard to believe they could find two pilots willing to jump prior to remote control by chase plane.

I was going to post this yesterday, then got distracted with infractions and forgot...
An upcoming segment is to focus on how to survive an airline accident. If the short blurb was correct, the crew bailed out (it mentioned a pilot mounted helmet before "ejecting").
I would guess it was done in Mexico as it was easier to get permission, and environmental cleanup would be more words than action.
The paint scheme looked like Champion Air.......
