Exactly. Yan, my current company, another ACMI carrier, wont look at anybody with less than 5000 hours unless they have a MIL background and their mins are 5000 hours with 2000 jet time... its just the sign of the times. You keep talking about right and wrong, and its just not about that, it is about what the company wants as a baseline minimum. Might they stray from that... sure on occasion. Many companies say they want 1000 turbine PIC, and when you fill out their application if you only have 999 hours.. it will tell you THANKS for Playing... NEXT!!! Does that one hour matter... hell no... but they have set an arbitrary minimum and they are sticking to it. If you stay in this business long enough this will not be the only time you will see some arbitrary restriction, sometimes it will work against you, other times it will work for you, roll with the punches or it will drive you crazy.
