Did you mean "they're" exceptional? If that's what you meant, I think the Hawaiian pilots were indeed exceptional back then. They got all the same pressure and extreme fear tactics from ALPA national, but the pilots still said no...go back an negotiate some more. It paid off for them. Hawaiian pilots deserve everything they have. I've got a lot of respect for them.

2010 Contract was negotiated with the same ALPA. 14 days with the NMB and ALPA and they had it done. Different times different decisions. All you did was point out that the ALPA can make a suggestion and that the MEC doesn't need to follow it. It was a gamble. Isn't that the opposite corollary to your argument that ALPA National interferes?
ALPA national does indeed interfere. On many levels. Up to and including reminding you where and if you get your funding. It's a good point for everyone to remember that your vote can always be NO...despite the expected fear campain from ALPA/management.
