I don't think that is feasable. The last few companies that tried that went out of business. You have to feed your own international trips or else the "feeder" will start flying international and you will go the way of Eastern and Pan Am.
The "feed" will come from the RJs to the "Main hubs". Then the International will come from "Code Shares"....
And if THAT isn't "feasible", the situations you mention is how it could get worse....

Not picking on you, but it ALWAYS could get worse.
I unfortunately (fortunately?) have been re-reading Flying the Line I and II, and it is UNCANNY how we haven't learned from the past....
