One other thing, you have to decide how it would look on your resume making lateral moves when a furlough was not involved. If hiring does pick up at the majors then you will gain seniority at any regional, not just Skywest.
It's a $4/hr cut, more if you count the dollar raise we get in December, and the longevity in April. And yeah, if I were to make the jump it would be solely based on domicile. Right now Chicago looks tempting, but my girlfriend is on the cusp of getting a job out in LA this fall, so it'd be nice to not commute, though LA I'm sure goes rather senior. The problem I can see running into is, at least until if we ever get more, a majority of Q vacancies coming internally and the new hires going into the Saab and CRJ, as has happened since we started. So sure, I'm gaining overall seniority, but it doesn't do me any good if I'm not gaining seniority in my base or seat. I've got 150ish pilots below me after 5 months, 4 of which are on the Q. I figure MSP would be mighty tempting to you, no? Probably easy to hold as well.
