It seems like you're about...what, 3-5 months in? If you can handle the pay cut and would rather be based in one of their junior bases, then why not? I'm only a very, very little bit higher than you on the list, and I got the call from SkyWest last week. I weighed the pros and the cons, and it didn't make since to me to give up 6 months of seniority to take a pretty substantial pay cut and start the first year pay clock all over again. I have a lot of friends at SkyWest who are happy there, but I personally just couldn't justify it. And I want to be based on the east coast eventually, so... The way I saw it, by the time you would go through training at SkyWest and start on the line, it'd be end of the year or even early next year, which is right around when the last round of displacements is over, which, if there's as much movement as everyone predicts everywhere next year, then normal hiring will resume and this will just be a speed bump in the past. It's a 6 month stunting of your movement on the list. The sky is hardly falling.

The good news here is that we still have a job. The fact that we can absorb these displacements without furloughing (so far, knock on wood) is a lot better than it's been at other places. Everyone's freaking out about the ISL and these displacements and many have very legitimate arguments, but I've made it a point to keep my mouth shut, because the truth is, it doesn't affect those of us at the bottom of the list that much just yet. Our pay is the same regardless of our aircraft, and we didn't lose any relative seniority or get downgraded. We're on reserve a little bit longer. Maybe it'll take you a bit longer to get into the base you want. Those are my two biggest complaints and they're relatively benign. I have 150ish people below me after 6 months. Granted only 4 are on my aircraft, but there are worse positions to be in.
