I'm guessing there is a separate provision that specifically states you cannot do what you mentioned and not the one quoted before.
That is the way our trips and schedules have to be built as well. It would not count, unless of course there is an international leg on the trip somewhere. The 756 community is used to trips back-to-back because of the international, down line rest provision. The 737 group does not see this as much when schedules are built.
Unfortunately, at CAL there are movable days off on reserve. So where that would come in to play is if the company needs to "roll" a day off past the sixth day. Somewhere on the sixth day or before a reserve would be given 24-hours off in base and then a trip assignment after the break. This, of course, assumes we are talking about trips with only domestic flying in them.
