Dv, see my post above in "Latest and Greatest about American."
Approx. 100 bailing on Nov 1.
The 757s are on the way out (except for the 25 or so transatlantic ones.) They will be replaced eventually by the Airbii. Keep in mind, a great many retirements were also from the 75/76 fleet, not just the 777. So by parking 11 airplanes, which requires about 120-150 pilots, they are matching the attrition. So instead of signing a contract with the pilots, they decide to shrink the airline even more. Genius, huh? It's also their way of playing hardball with us, in the last stages of negotiations. Not that they are intimidating us - far from it.
We have about 3 or 4 parked in Roswell awaiting C-checks... why?? Well, our genius VP of Ops Bob Reding has cut maintenance to the bone, and closed our MCI maintenance base, which has created a huge backlog at the TUL maintenance base. So, these 757s have expired and are awaiting space for C-checks, which has now just been outsourced to TIMCO in Greensboro.
To recap, most of the 757s will be parked - it's prob been expedited due to the retirements. It won't affect manning at all, IMO.
