Joe,

What is the source for the updated information you posted? It contradicts the language in the TPA, and FAQ...

TRANSITION AND PROCESS LOA

7-B. Job Opportunities.
(i) If either Continental or United intends to hire new Pilots...
...Such Pilot will be paid the greater of (1) the actual hourly pay rate he was receiving on the date of his furlough, or (2) the hourly pay rate to which his years of service at the employing Airline otherwise entitles.

FAQ – Continental New Hire Opportunity – July 29, 2011

How much will I get paid?
You will be paid the rate you were receiving when furloughed from United or the hourly rate under the Continental CBA, considering your longevity only at CO, whichever is higher.
